the easterly

Saltburn Pier, in June 2013.

Created specially for this unique stage, stretching 208m out to sea, it takes storytelling and song out over the North Sea waters.

Developed in collaboration with local fishermen’s choir the Men of Staithes, the performance begins with a song workshop. After being led through the town, following a lyrical text down the cliff, the audience march down the pier en masse, singing together as they walk out over the sea.
